In the context of his interpretative Homilies, Saint John Chrysostom dealt extensively with the Holy Bible. By choosing, preferably, hagiographic passages, he interprets and delves into them, without, as a rule, omitting constructive extensions. Description

The firstborn humans (Genesis 1:26 – 2:20) A’ Adam (Speeches 8’ – 14’)

In the context of his interpretative Homilies, Saint John Chrysostom dealt extensively with the Holy Bible. By choosing, preferably, hagiographic passages, he interprets and delves into them, without, as a rule, omitting constructive extensions. And this, because he usually speaks before a congregation and is interested in the spiritual cultivation and moral teaching of his listeners. Beneath the letter of the text, he often searches for various symbolisms. In the year 386, he delivered in Antioch a series of 9 Homilies, in which he interpreted the first chapters of Genesis, while two years later, in 388, another series of 67 Homilies on the rest. The present volume includes Homilies 8′-11′ which deal with the text of Genesis from chapter 1′ verse. 26 to chapter 2′ verse. 20, that is, from the creation of Adam to his placement in the Garden of Eden.
