For the book : Rich, poor and moneylenders
The ever-current topic of wealth and poverty, as well as usury, which is particularly prevalent in our time, is discussed by two great fathers of our Church. This issue includes three Homilies by Saint Gregory of Nyssa and one by Basil the Great. The first discusses the issue of benevolence (charity), the “discoverer” of which is this God. The other, delivered two years later (384), is closely linked to this sermon and teaches love for the poor. While the third (against usurers) is related to the previous ones and provides key answers to the great topic of usury, under the light of eternity. To complete the issue, the Homilies of Basil the Great on the Gospel saying “I will give you my storehouses…” are also included. In it, the just social philosophy of this wise hierarch is clearly seen, who wants to address with evangelical criteria the material and spiritual needs of the poor and the rich of every era. The Homily was delivered around the year 368.
