Description

For the book : A’ response to Lutheran theologians

In a period in which theological Dialogues are being conducted between representatives of Churches, Confessions and various Dogmas, it is important to know that the Eastern Orthodox Church, led by the ecumenical patriarch Jeremiah II, handled the issue of a kind of Dialogue with the then new (16th century) Protestant Church (Protestant, Lutheran). The Lutheran theologians of Tübingen, in the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany, sent to Constantinople the Augustan Confession in which they expounded their faith in 2 Parts and 28 Chapters. To these, Jeremiah II and the theologians around him responded in detail, to what the Orthodox East agreed and to what it did not. This Responsorial Psalm is also of interest to today’s Orthodox Christians, since it expounds the teaching of the Church on: God, original sin, the Son of God, justification, preaching, faith and works, the Church, sacraments, baptism, the Divine Eucharist, confession, repentance, ecclesiastical institutions, political authorities, the Last Judgment, self-government, the cause of sins, the honor of the saints, Holy Communion, the marriage of priests, tradition, monastic life and ecclesiastical authority.
