John Tzannetakos was born in Athens in 1940. He graduated from Athens College and studied Law at the Kapodistrian University. Representative of his year and his school in the Law Association “Themis”, Secretary General of the Board of Directors and the Managing Committee of Associations of the University of Athens (DESPA) respectively. Founding President (1963) of the National Student Union of Greece (EFEE). Member of the steering bodies of the Youth Organization of the Center Union (ONEK) and the Hellenic Democratic Youth (EDIN). Editor-in-Chief – Director of the magazines “Democrat” and “Democracy 64”. Since 1972 Director of the first and only anti-junta magazine “Prosanatolosimi”. Founding member of the New Forces, Director of the magazines “Politiko Kritirioni” and “Elefthera”. He worked for the newspapers “Proti” and “I Ellada Agias”. He works for the newspapers “Eleftherotypia” and “Kyriakatiki Avgi” and for the magazine “Metro”. He has written books: “N. Titoulescu, a great European of the post-war period”, “The Press at the microphone” and “Greek speech in journalism”. He has participated in dozens of collective publications. Member of the Citizens’ Movement for Free Radio Channel 15. Founding General Director of R/S Athens 98.4 and ASTRA 98.2 (Nicosia). Director of FLASH FM 96.1 (1989) and occasional collaborator of Radio 90.2 Laistera on FM, ERA 2, Radio Observer (Thessaloniki) and many regional radio stations. He has written the scripts and was the journalistic editor of 50-60 “episodes” in the documentary series of ET2 “Historical Portraits” and “Leaders”. He completed a series of broadcasts on the Seven X television station under the title “From Close Range” on public affairs and public discourse. He collaborates with Deutsche Welle.
